How to solve VPN error 850 on Windows 8
When setting up a VPN connection on Windows 8, the following error appears:
Error “850″ The Extensible Authentication Protocol type required for authentication of the remote access connection is not installed on your computer.
Solution:
Open the properties of the VPN Connection and select the security tab. Set the authentication to “allow these protocols” and tick MS-CHAP v2. After that, the connection with the VPN was successful.
Today I just played around with the new Windows Server 2012 Essentials. I also want to check the VPN and Remotewebaccess. Everything was working fine, just clicked through the wizards and the Remotewebaccess worked without any problem. OK, now le’ts try the VPN connection. When I try to connect i get this error:
